Lent 2019

Ash Wednesday, March 6, 7 p.m.

“Finding Your Life: Listening Deeply”

Service of Communion and Ashes

Pastor's Lenten Study

The Art and Practice of Prayer

Monday nights 7:00 p.m. - March 18  through April 22

Wednesday mornings at 10:00 a.m. -March 13 through April 17

led by Pastor Ed

What is prayer? Does it simply consist of getting something out of God or does it tap into something deeper in us, a longing for intimate connection, as a parent picks up a child to hold them? This curriculum is to start the discussion as to what prayer means and how we regain a practice that is at the core of who we are. We will hear from theologians and thinkers who share their own journeys of prayer. Part of the curriculum will provide suggestions for practices that can either be done alone or communally. Topics will include: Prayer as Emptying and Making Room; Prayer as Communion; Prayer as the Gift of Presence; Prayer as Breath for the Journey; Prayer as an Agent of Transformation; Prayer as Listening   Please sign up on the Adult Ministries Bulletin Board in the hallway for either session or call the church office.

Wednesday Community Worship

Community Lenten Services at 12 noon

by the Christian Churches of the Monroeville Ministerium

Wednesdays: March 13, 20, 27, April 3 & 10

The half-hour services begin at noon and will be followed by cookies and coffee (there will not be a lunch this year); they are designed so that community members may take a break during the week for spiritual renewal in observance of Lent.

Taizé - March 13, 7 p.m.

Our monthly Taizé service is a quiet time of calmness, reflection and mediation as we listen to the “still, small voice” of God. Lent is a prefect time to try this quiet time of reflection.
