Rev. Kelly Smith, Pastor
On July 1, 2022 we welcomed The Reverend Kelly Smith as our new pastor at MUM. Reverend Kelly was born and raised in Monroeville where she graduated from Gateway High School and attended Garden City United Methodist. She received her BS in Theater Performance from Seton Hill College and an MDiv from Perkins School of Theology with a certification in urban ministry.
Kelly toured with a theater company and worked for many summers as a Girl Scout camp drama director. Prior to being appointed to pastoral ministry, Kelly did children/youth ministry at Garden City UMC, Oak Lawn UMC (urban church in Dallas), and Trinity Tower UMC.
Kelly has served at Christ UMC-Uniontown and Trinity UMC- Fairchance, Mifflin Avenue UMC and South Avenue UMC in Wilkinsburg, and most recently at a partnership between Calvary UMC/Sheraden UMC/Christ Community Church/Church Union. Beyond her pastoral appointments, Kelly has served as the Chair of the Board of Church and Society, executive team of the Order of Elder, Pittsburgh DCOM, and the Ethnic Local Church Concerns committee. She currently serves as the Annual Conference Floor Manager, serves on the Board of Ordained Ministry and is chair of COSROW. In addition to those conference responsibilities, she is also on the Pittsburgh District Missional Strategy Team and Reconciling Ministries Core Team.
Kelly is comfortable and familiar with designing and leading traditional, contemporary and alternative worship experiences. She is passionate about full inclusion, social justice, and making the church relevant to each generation. Her energetic spirit makes others feel welcomed and affirmed for who they are.
Kelly is the mother of son Jeremiah and daughter Micah.
