Tom Barnicott

Role: Senior Pastor

Rev. Tom Barnicott, Senior Pastor

Tom Barnicott joined Monroeville United Methodist Church as our senior pastor on July 1, 2009.

Tom came to us from Emanuel United Methodist Church in Pittsburgh’s West End, where Tom served for sixteen years. Tom and his wife Linda have two daughters, Alyssa, who is doing graduate work at West Virginia Wesleyan and Brittany, who is working in Pittsburgh. Linda is a very talented artist and you can view some of her work at

Tom grew up in Bethel Park and graduated from Robert Morris College with a degree in business. After graduation Tom began a successful career in sales. Tom credits his time in sales with understanding the value of personal service. Tom was eventually chosen by Bell of Pennsylvania as the youngest marketing executive ever hired in the region. The Lord sometimes has other plans for our lives and even though he was achieving many of the things that society terms “success,” he wasn’t satisfied. After several months of prayer, Tom entered the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary where he earned a Master of Divinity Degree. He was ordained in 1987.

Tom served as a student intern at Allegheny United Methodist Church. He has had success at both building a new church and rebuilding an older church. Tom believes in building strong relationships, establishing partnerships and rapport with parishioners. He believes that no pastor can build a church alone. Tom has a deep spiritual foundation, new and exciting ideas, and respect for new and old traditions.
