United Methodist Women

umwprayer

The MUM UMW has three active circles which all women of the church are invited to join. Each circle meets at a different time of day and a different day of the month. Each circle has its own “personality,” but all are welcoming and offer wonderful opportunities for fellowship, devotion, and mission. The usual time and place for each is listed below, but it is best to check with a member or with the church office, if you are wondering about a specific date.

Deborah – Last Friday of each month, 6:30 p.m. at MUM

Lydia – Third Wednesday of each month, 9:30 a.m. at the church. First Wednesday of each month, breakfast at local restaurants at 9:00 a.m. Contact Dona Todarello, 412-372-7474 for locations and dates.

Mary – Third Tuesday of each month, lunch 11:30 a.m at Eat'n Park, then to the church at 1:00 p.m.

The Purpose of the United Methodist Women

The United Methodist Women’s Organization is a Missional Outreach Organization. Its primary purpose is local, national and world mission.

Our local unit gives grants to many local mission projects in Western Pennsylvania. We also send approximately $4,000 yearly to our parent organization, the Women’s Division of the United Methodist Church. The Women’s Division has its own missional outreach. One of the mission projects is the Ruth M. Smith Home in Sheffield, PA.

The UMW adds much to mission efforts done in the world. It is the backbone of the mission effort of the Church.

The members of MUM who support all of our fund-raising projects make it possible for our involvement in local, national and world mission.

In order to achieve this we need 5 people to read 5 different books from different categories. The books are easy to read and they are interesting. You can find them in the library on the U.M.W. shelf, just sign your name in the red folder and enjoy the reading.
