Faithful and Inclusive: The Bible, Sexuality and The United Methodist Church

is a six-week video series that examines the Bible (Scripture) and the texts touching on the subject of homosexuality from a United Methodist understanding. It honors Scriptural authority as reflected in tradition, reason and experience, known commonly within Methodist circles as the Wesleyan “quadrilateral.”

The Video Series is led by Rev. Rob Fuquay, senior pastor of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church of Indianapolis, one of America’s largest and diverse United Methodist congregations. He believes and explores how United Methodists can be completely faithful to the authority of Scripture and fully inclusive of the LGBTQ+ community in the life of the church. The series is produced and distributed by Bishop Richard and Julia Wilke, who produced the DISCIPLE BIBLE series so well loved by United Methodists for decades.

Each Session will explore a variety of topics: How United Methodist Interpret Scripture, Old Testament Passages, Influence of Culture on How We Read the Bible, New Testament Passages, The Jesus Ethic: What Did Christ Say? Each session also features the faith journeys of the LGBTQ+ members at St. Luke UMC so you can hear their voices and stories.

Sessions will be held through Zoom on Wednesdays, April 22 - May 27
