SCHOENECK EDWARD Rev. Ed Schoeneck, Pastor

Rev. Edward Schoeneck began serving as MUM's pastor in 2014. Ed and his wife Kathleen came to us from Grove Ave United Methodist Church in Johnstown, where Ed served for eight years. They have a daughter Elisha, who attends school in the Gateway School District. Kathleen is a UMC Minister with the Penn Center Charge, serving 1st UMC in East McKeesport, Penns Woods in North Huntingdon and Center Avenue in Pitcairn as senior pastor.

Ed grew up in Dewitt, New York, a suburb of Syracuse. He graduated from St. Lawrence University with a BA in Psychology, and began his professional career as a sales representative for Russell Stover Candies. After a couple of years, he moved to Gillette Company, Safety Razor Division where he was a sales representative from 1981 to 1987. It was during this time that Ed began attending Monroeville United Methodist as a parishioner. He taught Sunday School at MUM, and started to realize he had a calling to be involved with the ministry.

Ed was a student pastor at West Side UMC in McKeesport from 1988 to 1992; he graduated from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 1992 with a Master of Divinity Degree. Ed served as a minister at St. John’s and Forestville UMC in Slippery Rock from 1992 to 1997, and College Hill UMC in Beaver Falls from 1997 to 2006, before moving on to Grove Ave UMC.

Ed loves to play the guitar and uses his guitar talent as part of our summer worship band and our monthly Coffeehouse Experience. He also has a passion for sailing.
